FREE (death?) Ride on the Cyclone!

There a thousands of iconic photos of Coney Island from its epic reign through its Post-War deterioration into a dere-lict “my balls” trashy-ass scene, so I applied rigorous standards and ended up with this one. Coincidentally, there are breasts.

I hope the tasteful,  impactful photo is titillating enough (excuse the verbage) to get you to see the real deal at tomorrow’s Opening Day at the Coney Island History Project. They are throwing open their metal closing contraption before the big Memorial Day blow-out  season opener – only slightly less anticipated than the Yanks and Gotham Girls Rollyderby.  There will be some big players in the non-prof project, including authors and historians.  Beware, if you aren’t a history nerd or desperate for the Cyclone it might not measure up to your expectations if you are thinking freakshows: formal (Coney Island Circus Sideshow) AND informal (boardwalk).  If you are a nerd or packrat, then you’ll also dig, maybe, the free souvenir photo they are throwing into reward you for your epic journey, that may include a flesh market on the ride out if your life at all resembles Seinfeld.  The 1st 100 are the lucky recips. for the  free ride on the Cyclone – that tall wooden thing built in 1927.

Where: The Coney Island History Project Exhibition Center (located under the Cyclone)

When: Sunday, April 5   12-3 pm
