It looks like it’s working up to being a steamy, muggy friday here in NYC. Gross. This is the kind of day that makes you want to do nothing more than stay inside with the AC, a ton of water and the Freaks & Geeks box set, until the sun goes down.
IFC has recently released another gem to fill up your afternoon of hiding from the heat: The 50 Greatest Movie Trailers of All Time. #1, Unsurprisingly, is Alien, but there is a pretty eclectic mix of stuff that follows-South Park:Bigger, Longer and Uncut, and the not-yet-released Spike Jonze adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are, that’s sure to get assess in seats. There are some really obvious selections ( Pulp Fiction, The Shining) and some weird choices (Garden State, Face/Off, Red Eye) which all go to show that cutting a trailer is almost an art form in itself and can be deceptively misleading about a film’s actual content. Enjoy.
At night though, when the sun goes down, the best place to be in heat like this is a rooftop, so as I mentioned yesterday, head over to the American Can Factory in Gowanus and check Kelli Rudick’s amazing performance courtesy of Sound Fix , before settling in for a movie and then open bar, courtesy of Rooftop Films.
