Walk Don’t Destroy

We New Yorkers know how to put the mileage on our feet.  Here are two walking events this weekend that will allow you to enjoy the walk and not just worry about where you have to be.   Hell, you can even Jadewalk your way to the events!

Brooklyn Walks Back

This 2.3 mile Walkathon today is to raise community awareness and fund for “legal full court press” against Ratner’s new Atlantic Yards mega-development plan in Fort Greene.  You’ll meet like-minded Brooklynites out to make the people’s voice heard!  Plus, you will end at one of the greatest eateries EVER – Habana Outpost.  (mmm… traditional Mexican grilled street corn!!)  The walk starts at Brooklyn Borough Hall, and you’ll tour the neighborhoods that have been/will be directly affected by this development project.  You can Register on the website.

Walk Don’t Destroy Brooklyn

Burn Some Dust

You know you’ve always wanted to check out Southeastern Queens.  So join Matt Green and Rob Moncure, two handsome, interesting fellows, who have set out to walk their way around New York and its surrounding boroughs.  Like they say, “Get off your but and come walk around the city with us!”  Sunday’s walk is 20 miles through Broadway Junction, City Line, Ozone Park, South Jamaica, St. Albans, and Hollis.
