Abandoned Planet Bookstore in the Mission is Closing

Abandoned Planet Bookstore reminds me of the strange and funky shops the used to line Valencia when I first moved to the Mission.  Something about it always made me think of the weird old bookstore from The Never Ending Story.  If you’ve never been to the place, but you’re into chick flicks, you might remember it as the store that the Napoleon Dynamite guy worked at in that movie where Reese Witherspoon was a ghost.  I don’t know what the fuck it’s called, I saw it on an airplane.

Anyways, Abandoned Planet is closing (please read the awesome flyer below to see why) and they are having big sales from now until they shutter their doors on December 31st.  If you’ve always wanted to own old and rare books, but could never afford to, this might be your chance!  They’ve got some really cool stuff in there and I might finally be able to afford getting my hands on some of Jack Micheline’s stuff.  He was pretty amazing.
