San Francisco’s Alemany Farm

Right In The Middle Of San Francisco!

Living in a city can sometimes get a little claustrophobic, and when that happens the best thing to do is go to the country and get your hands dirty (and I mean in some real soil, not Muni bus stop grime).  Since “going to the country” is easier said than done, urban farms are the perfect place to get some fresh air (even if it’s the same air you breathe every other day, I promise it will feel different).  And so I present: Alemany Farm.  I went there once for a Harvest Festival/Hay Ride and it was pretty rad.  The 4.5-acre organic farm in Southeast San Francisco runs in part with the help of volunteers, or “Friends of Alemany Farm.”  That could be you!

The farm runs all sorts of great programs and has an amazing mission (read more here and here), plus regular community workdays that you can show up for anytime.  All ages and experience levels are welcome and you can participate as much or as little, for as much or as little time, as you want.  How easy is that?  This weekend they’re planting trees, so if you feel so inclined, go along and help oxygenate the planet!
