Beer and Wine @ Charity Dating Site Launch Party

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

At the risk of blowing all female participation in this interesting new venture, I feel I still need to admit that I signed up to be a guinea pig for GiveAndDate way back when it was still in development because a friend knows the people behind it. The idea, as I understand it, is fairly simple. I create a profile and submit a heavily photoshopped image of myself. Then, a gaggle of very attractive, good-hearted single women bid on the version of me that I have painstakingly constructed. When the auction time is up, I make the difficult decision and choose only one of the socially conscious supermodels (but be sure to note down the contact info for all others). A portion of the bid goes to a non-profit charity and the remaining portion goes towards the payment of her date with me, which is another form of charity.

And they keep on giving. Tonight is their official launch party with beer and wine, hosted at an animal shelter who implores us to “Help Create Happy Endings”. And how. Suggested donation, $2.

When: 6:30pm – until gone
Where: Animal Haven (251 Centre Street, SoHo)
