Drink Up for the Pups: Tonight at Elixir

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

This little guy's name is Hippo and he wants you to get drunk and adopt him.

This one should resonate with all the dog people and vegans in the audience: Rocket Dog Rescue has rescued a couple pups that need some expensive surgery so they’ll be holding a drink up/fundraiser at Elixir in the Mission tonight to help pay for their Vet bills. $1 from the sale of every hefeweizen and a portion of the tips will go to help these little guys get healthy and keep RDR in business.

Even if you’re a coldhearted animal-hater, maybe you can get down with the lineup of guest bartenders who will be helping to sling drinks, all of whom are somewhat-famous local internet celebrities including our friends Eve at SFAppeal.com, Sarah from Pawsome.net, Paolo from EaterSF and a couple of the kids from UptownAlmanac.

There’s also a rumor that there will be Vegan Cupcakes on hand if you get the munchies. I’ve never had a vegan cupcake, but now I’m kind of worried that all the funfetti I’ve been eating lately may have contained dog parts and I’m a little grossed out.

The complete run-down:

Andrew Dalton - Aggressive Panhandler

Andrew is an East Coast transplant from Virginia hamming it up in San Francisco without any intention of leaving. Having worked every typical job from Bike Shop Employee to Bartender to Ad Agency Hotshot, to Dotcom Layoff he now busts his ass covering the "weird things to do" beat for gracious local audiences at SFAppeal.com and rallies the Western Addy/Lower Haight/Panhandle neighborhoods into action at AggressivePanhandler.com. His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
