I Heart Tacos: A Taco Tour

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Tacos are the greatest. They’re like a flavor punch in your face and cover all five of the basic food groups (do the math…yeah I’m right) which does a body good. It’s pretty hard to mess up a taco, so most you encounter will be at least alright, but for some that just doesn’t cut it. Imagine, if you will,  a perfect world in which some awesome dude or dudette shows you all of the best tacos in the surrounding area for FREE!!! This magical world can be your reality today in Oakland at 11:00 AM.

The peeps over at the California Taco Trucks blog, Oaklandish and the East Bay Bicycle Coalition have organized a tour of the four best taco trucks in the East Bay and want to show you the ropes. There are hella people rsvp’d on the Facebook page, so they might have to go in shifts, but I’m guessing a lot of those bros won’t make the 11:00 AM start time. The awesome itinerary is as follows:

1. El Ojo De Agua '“ 12th St. & Fruitvale Ave.
2. Tamales Mi Lupita '“ 34th Ave. & Foothill Blvd.
3. El Gordo '“ International & 42nd Ave.
4. Tacos Guadalajara '“ 10th St. & Fruitvale Ave.
5. (Bonus) Cinco de Mayo Ice Cream '“ 3340 E 12th St & 33rd Ave.
6. (Bonus) The Trappist '“ 460 8th St (& Broadway)

The tour should all be wrapped up around 4:00 PM, but as with the previous rides, feel free to arrive/depart as you please. The organizers also advise you to bring your bike, helmet, camera, $10-15 for tacos, maybe $5-$10 for ice cream/beer.

Ali was born and raised in the Wholesome/Creepy capital of the world, Salt Lake City, UT. Once she was old enough to blow that pop stand she escaped to the place that was the anti-SLC: The Peoples Gay-public of Drugifornia aka San Francisco (holla 30 Rock!). You can now find her throughout this glorious city slurping Pho and scheming with her best friend Pinky doing what they do every night; try and take over the world.
