$2 Booze For Industry Workers Every Tuesday at the Riptide

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Come in on the tide.

The Sunset is almost never a destination when it comes to nightlife, which is probably why places like the venerable Riptide are so fond of specials.  Not that they’re all that worried about drumming up business anyway, since their following is very loyal and pretty local.

It’s touching nonetheless, that they have a weekly industry night every Tuesday with two-dollar booze and beers.  It isn’t exactly clear how they decipher who’s in and who isn’t in the biz but the bar is pretty mellow and cheap as hell anyway, so it’s probably not crazy exclusive.  Maybe, a little bit of a trek if you’re not close, but the L-Taraval is right outside if you feel separation anxiety from central locales.

They usually have some sort of grub going on as well if you’re hungry.

Stephen's early years were spent in a boxcar overlooking downtown Los Angeles. From there he moved around the state with his family before settling under the warm blanket of smog that covers suburban Southern California. Moving around led to his inability to stay in one place for very long, but San Francisco has been reeling him back in with its siren song since 1999.
By trade he pours booze, but likes to think he can write and does so occasionally for the SF Bay Guardian, Bold Italic and 7x7. He also likes to enjoy time spent in old eateries, bars and businesses that, by most standards, would have been condemned a long time ago.
