Does the thought of speaking in front of a crowd terrify you? Do you have nightmares about that one traumatic fourth grade incident you had when you were giving a presentation about a famous historical figure (you chose Shakespeare, natch) and you were so scared that you peed a little in your pants, causing Bobby Barnum to point and screech, “Four-Eyes pissed herself!” to the whole class? No? Oh. Well, anyway, those days are over! Now you’ve lived through El Niño, sophomore year of college, your first pregnancy scare, and walking through The Tenderloin, and GUESS WHAT?! You can get paid for it.
On Thursday night, Cafe Royale is hosting Storytelling Night, a magical time where anyone can put themselves out there in front of a rapt audience (Bobby Barnum hopefully excluded) and tell a story, any story that’ll enterain the masses. And there’s definitely a purpose to all this besides having fun or whatever — Snap Judgment is going to pay the narrator of the most engaging, fully awesome story 200 bucks!! There’s gonna be prizes for second place ($20) and third place ($2), but really, everyone knows that second place really just means first loser.
So hey, since San Francisco doesn’t have The Moth, come to Cafe Royale and storytell your little heart out. Let’s make this thing happen.Storytelling Night at Cafe Royale Thursday, April 15th, 8:30pm 800 Post St. (between Hyde & Leavenworth) [Nob Hill] FREE
