FREE Sunday Concerts all Summer at Sigmund Stern Grove

Adorable Concert Poster

If you’re tired of spending your Sundays in Dolores Park, acting like you’re actually enjoying whatever crap is spewing out of your neighbor’s boombox/ukulele/accordian while you try to make it through your hangover and someone’s hula hoop is smacking you in the face, then you will probably be interested in a more peaceful alternative out in Stern Grove.

In case you don’t know the background, one Mrs. Stern formed a non-profit way back in 1938 that ensured there would always be FREE concerts in the park until the end of time or when people stop donating to the Festival Association. If you’re a high roller, you can donate and secure a picnic table spot for you and your friends all season long. Or if you’re just a broke kid like the rest of us you can bring a blanket and a picnic and set up on the lawn between the park’s eucalyptus trees.

This year’s festival lineup kicks off with Afropop and soul music from Angelique Kidjo, and ends with pop music from They Might be Giants and Rogue Wave, with a whole lot of symphony and opera in the middle so you can some culture on Sunday afternoons.

Andrew Dalton - Aggressive Panhandler

Andrew is an East Coast transplant from Virginia hamming it up in San Francisco without any intention of leaving. Having worked every typical job from Bike Shop Employee to Bartender to Ad Agency Hotshot, to Dotcom Layoff he now busts his ass covering the "weird things to do" beat for gracious local audiences at SFAppeal.com and rallies the Western Addy/Lower Haight/Panhandle neighborhoods into action at AggressivePanhandler.com. His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
