FREE Booze, Music and More at the Lower Haight Art Walk

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Phallic street sign holders are my favorite.

It’s summer in the city, and you know what that means — bone-chilling weather and the return of the Lower Haight Art Walk!  Once again, your favorite bars and businesses along Haight St. (between Scott & Webster, if you want to get real technical) will welcome you with activities, discounts, drink specials and live music.

Highlights include the ever-ambiguous $60 Get What You Get Tattoos at Idle Hand Tattoo, a photo booth, DJ, giveaways and booze at D-Structure, FOOD CARTS (like Mad4Madeleines and the Chai Cart), $5 paninis at Uva Enoteca, and live music from The Ukulady at RobotSpeak.  As usual, there’s too much going on to list everything here, but check out the flyer to see all the other festivities and goings-on.

A fun addition to this installment of the art walk is a neighborhood scavenger hunt that promises a prize and entrance in a drawing to win $100 cash for all who don’t get too wasted to complete it!  If you want in, sign up at Lower Haters (597 Haight St. @ Steiner) tonight during the walk to get your clues.

Though I never personally make it past 9pm at any of these free-booze-for-all art walks, hopefully you can because there’s an after party at Nickie’s from 10:30pm – 2am, and their mac and cheese is kind of epic.

Lower Haight Art Walk & Scavenger Hunt Friday, August 6, 7pm – 10 pm Haight St. (between  Scott & Webster) [Lower Haight] FREE

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
