FREE “Get Your Ass Cultured*” Day

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

You don't get it? Gurrrl, we through.

* and the rest of you too. Although on second thought, that sounds like a STD testing ad. Uh. Well, I got your attention, didn’t I?

On to the boring part, Tuesday, Oct. 5th is the first Tuesday of the month which means FREE museum day to more museums than you can shake a stick at. But, I really don’t think museums care if you shake a stick at them or not. Security guards, on the other hand…

Stuart brought up the idea a few months ago that FREE museum day was a great choice for a first date. I’d say it works both ways and is also a great pick for a last date. It’s crowded so he or she won’t cause a scene, fingers crossed, and you can always pretend it is over a disagreement about the artist’s intention in some work of art, so instead of feeling like an asshole because you dumped her because she’s a terrible kisser, you can feel like you identify with the sensitive soul of a tortured artist and she just doesn’t understand. You’re not the jerk. Plus, you didn’t spend anything to get in and you might as well try to see if you can salvage your day by scooping up someone from a first date going terribly.

Choose your own adventure from the following museums:

Cartoon Art Museum “Pay What You Wish Day”

Conservatory of Flowers

de Young Museum

Legion of Honor

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SF MOMA)

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA)

And to the commenter that posted last FREE museum time, “What if you have a job?” And to that I say, HA. Have you ever been to San Francisco?

Jessica Longo - Two-Bit Reporter

Jessica was born, moved around a lot and has an odd dialect to prove it (see: hella, bubbler, and cawfee), and is now precariously settled in SF. Despite graduating high school too many years ago to count, she was crowned Prom Queen this summer and considers her life complete now. Last year her production editing job was outsourced to the Philippines. Hope they like it. Luckily for you, this Lady of Leisure is currently accepting applications for the position of Wealthy Benefactor.
