Tonight: FREE Happy Hour Comedy Returns to Madrone

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

It’s been awhile since the starts have aligned for me to make it over to Madrone on Divis for one of their first-Wednesdays Comedy Happy Hours, but the jokes I do remember between the $2 PBRs and dollar-off drafts from the last one were a HILARIOUS mix of insightful stand-up routines and possibly-stoned comedians riffing on how weird San Francisco is compared to Oakland. (I think the crowd though it was the reverse – still funny though!) This month, I hear the very-funny Mimi Vilmenay will be in attendance.

And if you’re not ready to go home when the FREE stand-up closes out, you can always stick around for GROW UP, one of my personal favorite DJ nights in the city. Comedy starts at 7pm, DJs go on at 9pm and there’s zero cover all night.

FREE Comedy Happy Hour
Followed by GROW UP
Madrone Art Bar
Comedy at 7pm

Andrew Dalton - Aggressive Panhandler

Andrew is an East Coast transplant from Virginia hamming it up in San Francisco without any intention of leaving. Having worked every typical job from Bike Shop Employee to Bartender to Ad Agency Hotshot, to Dotcom Layoff he now busts his ass covering the "weird things to do" beat for gracious local audiences at SFAppeal.com and rallies the Western Addy/Lower Haight/Panhandle neighborhoods into action at AggressivePanhandler.com. His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
