Last Outdoor Indie Mart Of The Year TOMORROW!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Rain in San Francisco is always a shitty thing. We all know that it rains a big part of the year and yet we still scramble for umbrellas and coats to keep us dry during the wetter times. After working through and putting up with the rain at the Treasure Island Music Festival this year, I’ve decided that my “Fuck Rain” campaign is officially going full throttle. Which means that your Sunday should not be ruined, and that there is no reason that you still shouldn’t roll out of bed, slam down a leftover burrito and a few mimosas and head down to Thee Parkside for the last Indie Mart of the year!

We are going out with a bang to celebrate our last outdoor extravaganza, and $3 gets you an entire day loaded with bands, designers, free crafts, awesome food and great drink specials. Thee Parkside always pours em strong all day long, and their bloodies are a stiff competitor with everyone’s favorite friendly bar, Zeitgeist. There will be a ridiculous amount of bands all day, as well as an after party that will rage with a few of my favorite local darlings, including Social Studies and The Stone Foxes. We are, literally, going for broke on this one, so you should come down, hang out and make out in the photo booth with us. And if you’re a pussy, bring an umbrella.

Also, for those of you who consistently try to be a douchebag at the door and not donate, here is a little bit of a reason of why we charge $3. Mad props to Kelly for clearing the air on this one.

Monica Miller - The Intern

Monica Miller - The Intern

Ms. Miller was born in San Diego, CA to one lesbian mother and one
righteous, cheap father. Currently, she is enrolled at San Francisco
State University for a B.A. in Journalism and the approximate
completion date is around 2015. She has worked for many papers in the
Bay Area, including the Oakland Tribune and the San Mateo Country
Times and is currently the city editor at one of the most
underappreciated publications in SF, the Golden Gate [X]press. Though
she may find bargains aplenty, it only stems from the necessity of
never landing an actual job and working for hacks [like Stuart.] With
intelligence, style, poise, bite, and honesty, she will rip your heart
out; but not before writing some awesome, poignant shit. This year,
she is looking forward to bigger and better things such as: trying to
get paid for a gig, actually finding a date that isn't a loser or
fucking crazy, not calling her parents when hungover and bringing you
the best of the 7x7 everyday of the week. [By the way, I wasn't
kidding about the date thing; if you love food, booze and shoegaze,
get at me.]
