Lunch and Dinner in One Go at Akdeniz

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

One does work in midtown. One does touristy things in midtown. One can anticipate the largest and dumbest waste of time, space, and money ever to have been dreamed up since the days of the French aristocracy in midtown.  And now you can do one stop meal shopping in midtown thanks to the delightful Turkish restaurant Akdeniz, where they exhibit one of the rarest and most welcome character traits for broke asses: generosity.

Turkish food should be familiar to anyone who’s ever had middle eastern anything. There’s nothing that you won’t be able to rationalize when you see it on the menu or being made. All the familiar favs on pita are done with some top notch flavor, and the place inside seems way nicer than its menu prices would indicate. What really gets you hooked, though, is the sheer quantity of the tasty sundries offered on one plate. If you find yourself in midtown by day to return to your usual broke squalor by night, pop in here for the leftovers if nothing else. It helps that this food is rich and hearty, especially their dynamite soups, so you’ll be full for ages. Just don’t let your roommate snag your takeout tray from the fridge. He already forgets to buy toilet paper, and stealing some gyro would cross the line.
