Burgers and Beers at South End Grill ‘n’ Bar’s Happy Hour

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I could literally kill for this right now.

Whether I’m nursing a nasty hangover or am just in the mood for a big, hearty helping of burgers and fries, South End Grill ‘n’ Bar is my Mission go-to.

But what I didn’t realize is that South End also has a really great happy hour special:  From 5pm -7pm every day, a combo including a burger, fries and a beer is only $7.  While that’s definitely what I’ll be ordering, during happy hour the daily mac & cheese is also only $6 and yam chips (ew, but whatever floats your boat) and chicken wings are a mere $3.50 per order.  If you’re inclined to order off the regular menu, go for the mac and cheese bar, an extensive list of various cheesy concoctions like “fiesta mac,” which includes ground beef, tomatoes, cilantro, and sour cream, or the “crab mac,” with crab, garlic, parmesan, cheddar and jack cheese.

Okay, I’m not too sure how I feel about crab in my macaroni and cheese.  Best to play it safe with the deliciously meaty burgers and crispy curly fries.  And, of course, a nice, cold PBR to wash it all down.am

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
