Hot Tubbin’ Mondays with Kurt and Kristen at Littlefield

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Although Kurt Braunohler and Kristen Schaal are famous for more prestigious things–she has been on Flight of the Conchords, Daily Show, Dinner for Schmucks and more, and Kurt has been on um, well, I saw him at a Wolf Parade show once so I know he has really good taste in music–their wonderfully bizarre web series Penelope Princess of Pets about is what earned them a cult following big enough to deserve to get picked up on BBC.

An “average story about a girl who can talk to animals and has to save the world by killing a popular Senator,” the show proved the duo’s LOL cred enough that having their own variety night at Littefield every Monday (previously at the UCB) is only natural. “Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen” features the pair’s own quirky stand-up as well as a revolving lineup of the freshest and finest on the NYC comedy scene.

Past guests have included the likes of Max Silvestri from Big Terrific (another fantastic weekly comedy show), Eugene Mirman, and  Andrea Rosen, and upcoming January guests include funny short film makers Front Page Films and a group that promises to be awesome from its name alone: Ronald Reagan – Boston’s Premier 80s Pop Saxophone Duo. Sounds like a benjamin well spent.

Jill is an Ohio native and Boston University graduate who refuses to stop saying "pop" and wearing her Red Sox gear despite being heckled for doing so since moving to Brooklyn. She's been honing her thrifty ways since doing that silly thing people talk about when they ignore reason to follow their hearts and chose a career in the fulfilling but faltering music industry. She earns her beer money as a publicist and writer, and spends her spare time cooking, biking, and trying to decide if she's ready to get a cat.
