Maurice Sendak seems like he’d be a cool person to hang out with at his house in Connecticut with his German Shepherd, Herman, just like, drinking wine and listening to him complain about people. I can see why Spike Jonze made a documentary about him. It sounds like Sendak is unhappy about the fact that “Where the Wild Things Are” has defined his career, which seems a little sad. Also sad, he is gay, but hid this fact for about 50 years in order to protect his parents, who never knew. Bah!

A lot of interesting stuff in this documentary. You can see a screening for FREE tonight at Liberty Hall in the Ace Hotel. Directors Spike Jonze and Lance Bangs will be there to answer questions about the movie afterward, and there is a drink special on Moscow Mules.

Katy B. - Economic Inexpert

Katy B. grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the home of Gerald R. Ford, Andy Richter, and, at one point, the guy who wrote Mr. Holland's Opus. She moved to NYC for her degree in library science, and is now in the Media Studies program at The New School. She hopes to one day be a film studies librarian. Ask her anything about Dewey Decimal – anything! – and she will roll her eyes because academic libraries use Library of Congress. Durrr.
