My New Year’s resolution to be a healthier lady (and, in turn, gain the body of a young Cindy Crawford) is going pretty well. I joined a CSA, started chewing Trident Tropical Twist (the best gum in the world) instead of chocolate-covered pretzels while watching my beloved Hoarders, and made pretty good friends with the Lyon Street Steps. I’m also developing a taste for most vegetables, which has led me to a bunch of local farmers markets with a wad of cash. I know “a wad” sounds like a lot, but usually it’s, like, eight bucks that I find in my various coat pockets throughout the week.
Anyway, while I am basically in love with my little Sunday Divisadero Farmers Market, probably because it’s only a few blocks from my apartment, the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is running a really cool promotion for the entire month of February. If you’re one of the first 50 people to show up at 10am, the market’s opening, on Tuesdays or Thursdays, you’ll get a voucher to cash in for FREE veggies during your visit. The deal of the day is posted on Twitter about half an hour before the market opens, so you can be discerning about the days you call in late to work. For example, yesterday’s freebie was mixed beets from County Line Harvest. Now, beets make me want to stab my tongue off, so I didn’t get up early. But if tomorrow’s deal is, like, any type of pepper or brussels sprouts, watch out. I have no problem slamming your kids to the ground on my way to the front of the line.FREE Veggies for First 50 Customers at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market Every Tuesday & Thursday in February, 10am 1 Ferry Bldg [Financial District]
