Vests really are timeless, no??

Okay, I am officially going out and drinking on Thursday night even though I told myself I would cut back on the booze during the week.  This is too amazing to pass up because, seriously, who doesn’t like a good movie-based drinking game??

Tomorrow night GAFFTA (aka Gray Area Foundation for the Arts) will be hosting Cinema Speakeasy, a DRINK-A-LONG MOVIE SHITSHOW!!  I can’t believe I’ve never been to this.  Apparently it happens the first Thursday of every month, I’m assuming because it takes about 30 or so days to shake the debilitating hangover that ensues after this thing.  Anyway, tomorrow “The Warriors” is the featured film, which I’ve never seen.  Is that bad?  I feel like the answer is no.  When I ask the same question about “The Never-Ending Story,” though, forget about it.  Shunned for life.  Sorry my parents didn’t want to show fetus-me a movie involving creepy flying dragon-dog creatures.  (N.B. I don’t look like a fetus.  I hadn’t been born when “The Never-Ending Story was released is where that was supposed to go.)

Anyway, the movie, I think, is basically a really good excuse to play a very large, extended drinking game.  Brush up on the rules here.  Highlight: “Every time the Warriors win a fight: Yell ‘Warriors!’ and drink.”  Don’t have to ask me twice.

On top of that awesomeness, there’s a raffle for prizes from Funky Door Yoga, Beautiful Decay and Dancing Regeneration.  Free tickets to those who come dressed as a character from the movie.  Meaning slap on a vest and a bandana and you’re good.

Cinema Speakeasy Drink-A-Long featuring “The Warriors” at GAFFTA Thursday, March 3, 7:30pm 55 Taylor St. (between Golden Gate & Market) [Civic Center/Tenderloin] $5

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
