Okay, so March Madness — i.e., the monthlong hysteria produced by the NCAA men’s basketball tournament — is pretty much over. But you can still watch your tourney bracket get blown to hell in real time on a bigger screen than you can afford for FREE at the Independent tonight!
College basketball doesn’t seem to elicit as much frenzy in West Coasters as it does in Midwestern and Eastern folk. But it can be fun to watch athletes, who are technically unpaid, balling for the love of the game. We started with 32 teams, progressed to the Sweet 16, went on to the Elite Eight, and cheered on the Final Four. Now the championship hangs in the balance between Indianapolis’s Butler Bulldogs and the University of Connecticut’s Huskies. Butler, a small school with truly amateur athletes, is the real underdog (har) here. But if you like cheating, egotistical, scholastically failing, Warriors-rivaling teams, UConn is the one to root for in this dogfight. Should you choose the latter, be sure to buy rounds for the people around you as you won’t be making any friends based on your sterling character alone.NCAA National Championships at the Independent
