Obscura Day: Birthday of the Bizarre

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Why, “What is Obscura Day?” you might be asking yourself. “Google it like a normal person and find out!” I might answer. But instead, I will tell you. Obscura Day is an annual day of “expeditions, back-room tours and hidden treasures in your hometown” put on by the site Atlas Obscura, purveyor of curiosities from around the globe (a bit more about that from Broke-Ass correspondent Ashley Friedman HERE).

This year’s event of oddities will go down Saturday, April 9th and features a smattering of awesome for NYC and Brooklyn. Events include a Brooklyn Brewery History Bike Tour from 12-4PM, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Navy Yard, and Urban Foraging for those of you who always suspected dandelions were good for something more than the joy of popping their heads off. Check out the full listings HERE.

Jill is an Ohio native and Boston University graduate who refuses to stop saying "pop" and wearing her Red Sox gear despite being heckled for doing so since moving to Brooklyn. She's been honing her thrifty ways since doing that silly thing people talk about when they ignore reason to follow their hearts and chose a career in the fulfilling but faltering music industry. She earns her beer money as a publicist and writer, and spends her spare time cooking, biking, and trying to decide if she's ready to get a cat.
