Treat Yourself at Takahachi Bakery

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

It seems like it’s finally spring, you guys! Which means it’s time once again for everyone to freak out about cherry blossoms, and rightfully so. They’re damn pretty, but if going aaaaall the waaaay to Brooooklyn seems to hard for you, Takahachi Bakery is giving you an out by just letting you grab a Cherry Blossom-flavored Macaroon instead.

“But if I’m too lazy to go all the way to Brooklyn for cherry blossoms, why should I go all the way to Tribeca for Takahachi Bakery?” you might be asking. And the answer is because you clearly haven’t been to this bakery, or else you wouldn’t have asked such a question! Green tea powder-dusted or tomato-flavored rolls, cream puffs, and Orange Wasabi cake are enough to earn a swipe of your little yellow metro pass, and savory offerings like sandwiches filled with noodles make it one of those little gems that makes overpaying on rent to live in NYC kind of worth it.

Prices hover around $2-4.50 for sweets and $4.50-$6.50 for sandwiches, so you can break your diet without breaking the bank. Plus, isn’t it time to finally figure out how to get around Tribeca?

She's been honing her thrifty ways since doing that silly thing people talk about when they ignore reason to follow their hearts and chose a career in the fulfilling but faltering music industry. She earns her beer money as a publicist and writer, and spends her spare time cooking, biking, and trying to decide if she's ready to get a cat.
