Triple Crown of Yo-Yo Competition

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The event of the year for all you Yo-Yo enthusiasts is happening today in North Beach! One of the three national Triple Crown Yo-Yo competition will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the north side of Washington Square Park, near Filbert Street, and it is FREE for spectators.

For the Yo-Yo novices, a beginners area will offer FREE Yo-Yo lessons, that will no doubt come in handy at your next social gathering. When I was little, I had one of those Yo-Yos that lit up when you yo’d them, but me and my stupid little-kid coordination only ever mastered the most basic of moves. Well, that uncoordinated little freakshow is all grown up now, and is about to learn some mad Yo-Yo skillz. Look out world, here I come!

Ali was born and raised in the Wholesome/Creepy capital of the world, Salt Lake City, UT. Once she was old enough to blow that pop stand she escaped to the place that was the anti-SLC: The Peoples Gay-public of Drugifornia aka San Francisco (holla 30 Rock!). You can now find her throughout this glorious city slurping Pho and scheming with her best friend Pinky doing what they do every night; try and take over the world.
