I’ll start this by saying I haven’t enjoyed U2‘s music since Achtung Baby or since The Edge started wearing that obnoxious hat all the time, whichever was most recent. BUT I still consider U2 to be one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time, and if you can get over Bono‘s Messiah complex, you should get a FREE ticket to see U2′s sold-out June 7 show. Remember, these are the guys who’ve won 22 Grammys, sold 150 million records, and worn more questionable attire than any one group of musicians should have in the past 25 years. Of course you’d want them to ride your wild horses.
This madness is being called “Take Off Your Boots” because you have to donate a pair of new or gently used shoes (or boots, obvs!) to Soles4Souls at the Hard Rock Cafe at Pier 39, where the streets have no name, today. In return, StubHub will give you a pair of tickets to that Tuesday show at Oakland Coliseum — while supplies last. They only have 100 pairs, so get there early if you want to find what you’re looking for. Have fun, go crazy, but I can’t promise I will follow you.
