Explosions in the Sky

Just got back from the wilderness where a bunch of friends and I celebrated America in liberating 100 degree weather. We shot a bald eagle with a bow and arrow, and roasted it over the fire with some gray salt, fresh ground pepper, and smoked paprika, decorated ourselves in freedom paint with a mixture of urushiol oil and baby bunny tears, and played flip cup until the wee hours of the morning. We greeted the dawn with a rousing rendition of “Proud to Be an American,” accompanied by exploding Budweisers in the fire and passed out wrapped in American flags woven from grass on the land.

It was a very good weekend.

I was too tuckered out to walk a few blocks over to watch the fireworks,
So in the grand old tradition of blowing shit up to celebrate:

Hope you stayed safe out there with all limbs intact and you didn’t feel compelled to cower under the couch like my roommate’s dog.

As my friend just said to me over g-chat,

Happy Second Day of Independence!

Jessica was born, moved around a lot and has an odd dialect to prove it (see: hella, bubbler, and cawfee), and is now precariously settled in SF. Despite graduating high school too many years ago to count, she was crowned Prom Queen this summer and considers her life complete now. Last year her production editing job was outsourced to the Philippines. Hope they like it.
