Ever wanted to know exactly how a blind person lives their day-to-day life? Now you can find out by participating in the Dialog In the Dark exhibition at the South Street Seaport. Dialog In The Dark takes you through different New York City environments to experience the city just using our sense of touch, smell and hearing.
Here you’re guided by the blind and visually-impaired guides and given a walking cane to help navigate you around your environment. An instructional video is shown to exhibit-goers prior to temporarily losing your sense of sight, in order to correctly utilize your walking cane. An exhibition where communication is key and certain habits we’ve already developed may harm you in your visit.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience a new world, head down to the South Street Seaport where Dialog In The Dark will run until the end of 2011.
