Slavic Soul Party at Barbès on Tuesday

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

You may be tempted to take it easy in between the holidays and New Year’s Eve, but I always say it’s better to keep your celebratory momentum up or you may risk running out of steam. A night with Slavic Soul Party is the perfect way to keep the party going, and luckily they’re playing Barbès on Tuesday night.

Located in south Park Slope, Barbès is dedicated to bringing “cultural variety” to the neighborhood, which makes Slavic Soul Party a perfect fit for the venue. The nine-piece brass-heavy outfit plays music that draws influence from the multicultural soundscape of NYC and mixes it with the vivacious sound of Balkan folk music. SSP has toured all over the world, played with fellow “gypsy-punk” revelers, Gogol Bordello, and has lots of experience putting on a riotously good show, so funk up your week and get ready to dance on Tuesday night.

Slavic Soul Party
Tues., December 27th, 9PM
$10 at Barbès
376 9th St. (near 6th Ave.)
[Park Slope]

Tiara Francis - NY Know-it-all

Tiara was born in NYC, raised in NJ, and after studying Comp Lit at Columbia, vowed to never go back to the suburbs. While she has expensive taste, she also has shallow pockets and is always looking for a budget way to be a weekend warrior. Her hobbies include laughing way too loudly, putting hot sauce on/in everything - including margaritas - speaking French at inappropriate moments, and dancing like there’s no one else in da club.
