The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

If you ever find yourself around the Inwood section of Upper Manhattan, starving and looking to have yourself a drink, head over to Piper’s Kilt. This Irish restaurant & bar is the perfect cozy spot to snuggle in while you’re hiding from the heartless winter and its bitter wind gusts. Piper’s Kilt prides itself as having the “best burger in town” and while some may not agree, it sure has gotten some good reviews.

When you enter, don’t make the same mistake I did by taking the long way to the bar, almost knocking down a waiter and falling into someones dinner. Take the obvious route and just turn left. Once you hit the bar, you’ll have your choice of draft beer options which range from $3.75-$6.50 a pint. Pitchers will cost you anywhere from just $11-$19.95; bottles go from $4.75-$5.25.

The menu stops catering to the typical broke-ass when it comes to the act of quieting the weird sounding groans coming from your stomach. Still, a broke person needs to eat. I’d go after the burgers since they lean a bit more to the inexpensive side of the food menu. If you’re truly strapped for cash, there’s a pizzeria next door that won’t completely kill your pockets.

Live music is always on hand every Saturday night and they offer karaoke happy hour on Sunday at 9pm. Every Tuesday is trivia night at Piper’s Kilt and registration begins at 7:30pm.

It’s a nice neighborhood bar with a laid back atmosphere. Stop by and warm yourself up.

My father came, my mother saw...and I conquered. I encourage children to do drugs, I buy alcohol for teenagers, and I drink beer with the homeless. In my spare time, I attend art galleries for the FREE booze while rubbing elbows with modish elephants. I also hammer six-inch nails into small penises. Stuart knighted me as Broke-Ass King of New York. You've been warned.
