If you are on the right track, right about now your head should be a terror storm of the large umbrella group known as holiday music.  It probably started innocuously enough when you heard a far away ditty from your childhood lilt upon the frosty air and a single tear, pure as the Christmas star welled up in your sparkling eyes.

Now, however, your eyes are bright red orbs betraying the jingle-jangled nerves of having heard one chirpy, electronic, Walgreen’s/ company Christmas party dj mix combined with one holiday inspired cocktail too many.  Now before you lies the prospect of a long trudge to wherever you call Bethlehem with only the prospect of grain alcohol and the dulcet depresso meanderings of Bing to comfort your shattered soul.

Oh what child is this?? Buck up kiddo! You have at least one more holiday fiesta in you before you skip town or hole up with your holiday 7-11 Big Bite.  SF’s own little doll-babies, Tartufi, have cooked up an extra special- strike that- OUTTA SIGHT HOLIDAY SEPCTACULAR!!! Just for you!  Yes, there will be holiday covers, but just check out the line-up and all thy fears shall be assuaged. Besides, unlike some other cheapskate holiday clambakes in town, this one is FREE and so’s the grub.  Bar is regular prices, but as bars go, the Verdi Club is pretty low on the price inventory.

You’ll be grateful for the city-crafted internal soundtrack as you sit through that 7th go around of “Carol of the Bells” provided by the K of C back home.

Stephen Torres - Threadbare-Fact Finder (Editor, San Francisco)

Stephen's early years were spent in a boxcar overlooking downtown Los Angeles. From there he moved around the state with his family before settling under the warm blanket of smog that covers suburban Southern California. Moving around led to his inability to stay in one place for very long, but San Francisco has been reeling him back in with its siren song since 1999.
By trade he pours booze, but likes to think he can write and does so occasionally for the SF Bay Guardian, Bold Italic and 7x7. He also likes to enjoy time spent in old eateries, bars and businesses that, by most standards, would have been condemned a long time ago.
