kinda late show with broke-ass stuart

I’ve got some pretty awesome news! On Wednesday, November 19th I’m debuting a brand new live “late night” show called The Kinda Late Show with Broke-Ass Stuart. Imagine all the late night shows you’ve ever seen (Letterman, Fallon, Leno, etc.) but with a distinct San Francisco slant. Now take that thing you just thought of and imagine something like eleventy-thousand times better. Yeah, it’s pretty close to that. There will be unbelievable live performances, famous musicians, titilating interviews, and hilarious video sketches. Plus there will be me in a suit, behind a desk, talking shit as usual. Then after we perform it live, we’re gonna throw it up on the internet!

The Kinda Late Show is being produced by such incredibly talented people as: Alexandra Liss (producer/director),  Matt Lieb (comedian/writer), Nato Green (comedian/writer), Alejandro Morales (producer), and Rachel Adams (writer).

All this is going down at Doc’s Lab, a brand new venue in the space previously inhabited but the world famous Purple Onion. And the best part about all of this is that our guests for this first show are DOPE! They include Kari Byron (formerly of Mythbusters), Polly Superstar (Sex Culture Revolutionary and Author), Inka Siefker (Circus Performer, Guinness Book World Record Holder). musical guest Boots Riley (from The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club), and our house band The MegaFlame Big Band and Cabaret.

Read about our guests below:

Kari Byron (formerly of Mythbusters)

kari-byron

Kari Byron is best known as a host on Discovery Channel’s flagship show, Mythbusters. For over a decade she has been a strong presence in the world of reality-based science television.

Fostering her curious nature, she spent a lifetime acquiring odd skills and interests. After graduating college and traveling the world she decided to settle in San Francisco and pursue a career as a sculptor. Special effects and prop making seemed like a perfect fit. Trying to break into the field, she got an internship at M5 industries with Jamie Hyneman. Her first day turned out to be the beginning of Mythbusters, and a career in television. Though her dream was to be a working artist somehow handling poop, eating bugs, wiring explosives and scraping chicken guts off the ceiling turned out to be her real dream job.

Polly Superstar (Sex Culture Revolutionary and Author)

polly-superstar

Polly is a 21st century sex culture revolutionary. She has dedicated her life to sexually progressive community as a latex fashion designer, a creator of arty, sexy parties, and a spokesperson for sex culture. Born in London, England, in 1974, she is the daughter of a hot air balloon pilot and a sex therapist. She relocated to San Francisco—home of the sexual revolution—in 1999. Her award-winning event, Kinky Salon, takes place in a dozen cities across Europe and North America. She recently joined forces with Christopher Ryan, Author of NYT Bestselling Book Sex at Dawn to create Kotango.com—a social network for global sex culture.

Inka Siefker (Circus Performer, Guinness Book World Record Holder)

inka

Twisted by fate and charmed by the stars… Inka has been entertaining audiences with an illuminating smile and arresting energy since she was merely 3 years old. Although she has always lived in upside down world, it was at the dawn of her 20’s she ran away to join the circus. Presently in her circus life, where the strangest things are just routine, Esquire Magazine dubbed her “Sexy and Deadly” after she set the Guinness World Record for “farthest arrow shot into a target using the feet” while doing a handstand!! Most of her time upside down and backwards was spent with Mongolian Contortion Legend, Serchmaa Byamba and Master Xia Khemin with Nanjing Acrobatics. Recent summers visiting Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia …she absorbed contortion aesthetics and training with the famous Enksetseg Lodoi and XBud Roses. Inka has a single goal in this life; to entertain you with impossible things.

Musical Guest: Boots Riley (from The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club)

boots

Boots Riley is an American poet, rapper, songwriter, producer, screenwriter, humorist, political organizer, community activist, lecturer, and public speaker- best known as the lead vocalist of The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club.

megaflame

The MegaFlame Big Band and Cabaret plays a mish-mash of mid-century jazz, blues, and cool “re-conceived” versions of contemporary tunes. We include a lot of theatrical elements in our playa-inspired set which runs the gamut from Ella Fitzgerald to Morphine and from Tom Waits to Big Mama Thorton.
