30 Piece Women’s Vocal Ensemble, Conspiracy of Venus, Releasing Debut Album!

I’ve been a fan of Conspiracy of Beards for years. They are the 30 piece, all male, a cappella group who only does Leonard Cohen songs. I love them because I’m a huge Leonard Cohen fan but also because they make really incredible music. They even played my bar mitzvah party!
So I was excited to find out awhile back that they have a sister group called Conspiracy of Venus, a vocal ensemble comprised of 30 radical Bay Area women who cover songs by by Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, The Pixies, Bjork, and others. Plus they do original works by the group’s director, Joyce Todd McBride.
Awesome right? Well I’ve got some good news for you: Not only is Conspiracy of Venus putting out their first album, they’re doing so by having a badass album release show! Back in 2014 COV raised $26,000 through a crowdfunding campaign. A whopping 440 people contributed, and the resulting album, Muse Ecology, will be released on February 27th at Saint Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church.
