Sixteen awesome indie and punk artists banded together for this charitable covers compilation that includes the songs of Tom Petty, Green Day, Rick Astley, and many more timeless musicians (try listening to Never Gonna Give You Up) and not get it stuck in your head). We all enjoy quality renditions of the classics, but why did Fourth Line Records put together such a poignantly quality album?

“After Trump’s first week in office, I was searching for a way to rally support for the ACLU in the wake of his many unconstitutional executive orders. Throughout history, protest songs have always been an integral part of resistance movements. I thought what better way to raise money and awareness than through a compilation,” says Fourth Line Records founder and contributing musician, Jon Cendrowski. Even though 100% of the money being made from buying this album goes to benefit the American Civil Liberties Union, all donations are based on a “give what you can” premise. How punk is that?! The compilation is available for download via Bandcamp.

The ALCU is a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization whose stated mission is “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States.”  If music isn’t your thing you can always donate directly to the ACLU as well because at the rate and frequency they are suing Trump (immigration ban and travel ban amongst other important issues) they could use your patriotic pocket change.

Curtis Conrad Schabath

Prof. Curtis Conrad Schabath loves being a third-generation Detroiter, dog dad, vinyl slut, and old-school fool. This queer Cancer can be found equally at marches and rallies, on the trails, beach, or streets, taking time to volunteer and teach, and micro-dosing in the morning plus meditating at night just to handle it all. Phone on DND, camera on hand, a few dollars in the pocket, and heart full of love and protection is how they emote and float through this crazy thing (and electric word) called"life".
