Unconditional Loyalty Can be Dangerous

With all the misguided and bad behavior by“Trump”, will he be removed from office? There seems to be a mounting file of evidence that continues to put more nails into the “Reckless Cowboys” coffin. The only thing that can stall this important impeachment process is the unconditional loyalty of many Republicans. So, we must query, is “Unconditional Loyalty” a dangerous road to hoe? In politics winning is always the end game, but at what price?

I am not saying that “loyalty” is a bad concept, but I am saying that loyalty to those people and systems that lack morality, integrity, and justice are doomed to ultimate failure. Loyalty always needs to work bilaterally, and ultimately create a positive outcome for all stakeholders.

Trump’s ‘team’ since 2016 has changed, in February 2017 alone, nineteen staffers left along with Michael Flynn.

Looking back in history unconditional loyalty did not save Joseph McCarthy, Richard Nixon, or Adolph Hitler from exposure and ultimate downfall. There is a old cliché that says, “When you lie in bed with dogs you get fleas”. “Trump” is clearly showing his always apparent colors of being a liar, deceitful, impetuous, nasty, lacking in character, and unhinged. His behavior for intelligent critical thinking students of history is no surprise, it’s just more of the same obnoxious despicable behavior. Without using camouflage it’s impossible to change the spots on a leopard.

In a current article in SALON, the reporter has found clear evidence that many “Trump” staffers are leaving or contemplating “Jumping ship”.  According the Washington Post, “aides have started contacting consultants, shopping their résumés.”  Not everyone wants to get more fleas. As with McCarthy and Nixon, their behavior added stains to the Republican party.

Thoughtful Republicans, such as John McCain, Jason Chaffetz, Mike Simpson, Carlos Curbelo, and Justin Amash who have a modicum of integrity are casting aside the ridiculous myth of “Unconditional Loyalty” because they have the moral compass and vision to see that “Trump” is poisoned goods covered in fleas.

John McCain comparing current White House to Watergate published May 16 2017:

Bringing with Rober Mueller (Former FBI Director), who has a stellar reputation, may lubricate the wheels of integrity and transparency, to jettison “Trump” out of the presidency. But then again Earl Warren who had sterling credentials was appointed head of the “Warren Commission” to purportedly get to the truth of the JFK murder, but look at what a lying sham that turned out to be.

Long term, are Republicans willing to be “Unconditionally Loyal” when that misguided folly could alienate voters and cause defections to the other side? Things are rarely “Black of White”, but in reality many shades of gray.
