Diversity Hires: Live Comedy

Kind of Blue Revue

The Bay Area’s hottest Blues-and-Burlesque show is back! Fast Times! Light After Darkness

BONAVEGA Live!

Glam pop artist BONAVEGA creates music that unites retro rock with futuristic pop. His Los Angeles club shows are known to be packed full of energy, disco beats, chanting crowds, shredding guitars and theatrical entertainment.

 

Sherry Vine: I love Being a Whore

International drag legend, Sherry Vine, has a new show stuffed with filthy parodies and hilarious comedy. 2021 marks Sherry’s 30 year anniversary of drag and she’s celebrating with new deliciously dirty takes on Journey, Laura Branigan, Gaga and more – plus the classic “hits” she’s been churning out since 1991!

Sequence: Lil Texas

If you’re a voyeur, or are just interested in dancing until you drop, the uptempo hardcore stylings of Lil Texas are for you. You see a lot of cool costumes and gimmicks in electronic music, but it’s almost a sure bet that you’ve never seen anything like Lil Texas! Lightspeed beats and samples from horror films are just a few signatures of Lil Texas’ signature style (which he calls “Texcore”) – perfect for old school ravers and modern EDM fans alike!

 

The First Church of the Sacred Silverseual Presents: The 10th Annual Bowie Birthday Bash

9/10 and 9/11, doors at 8:00pm, shows at 9:00 pm | The Chapel, 777 Valencia Street | $30-50

Reverend Father Lysol Tony-Romeo and the First Church of the Sacred Silversexual, San Francisco, bring you their 10th Annual Bowie Birthday Bash! The world’s only Bowie Worship Band will be performing Two of His seminal albums: on Friday, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars; and on Saturday, Hunky Dory (plus a special encore set and midnight mass both nights). On top of that, there will also be a stage show featuring some of SF’s favorite drag performers and burlesque stars as the Spirit of Ziggy flows throughout the performance!

 

Lisbona Sisters + Silky Thunder + Who Are We Crew

It’s a dance party to blow your mind! Featuring three incredible acts, all of whom are well-known for their high-energy, funky, dance-inducing bops, tonight’s show will have you grooving till dawn.

Sound Summit

10:00 am | Mountain Theatre, Mount Tamalpais State Park | $65-115

Live music at the top of Mount Tam? What on Earth could be better than THAT? Topped by dynamic Americana group Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real and indie sensation Father John Misty, the eclectic lineup of this year’s Sound Summit Festival will also feature soulful Southern California-based band Allah-Las, high-energy New Orleans brass ensemble Cha Wa, and local powerhouse vocalist Teal Collins.

 

Secondhand Saturdays

10:00 am – 4:00 pm | Sunset Community Mercantile, corner of 37th Avenue and Ortega | Free 

Every 2nd Saturday of the month from 10-4 pm, Secondhand Saturdays takes over the Sunset Community Mercantile Space located at 37th Ave and Ortega. This vintage market is THE place to shop and support local secondhand vendors, buy wares from neighbors in the Yard Sale Zone, and enjoy a delicious bite from local restaurants and cafes. There’s also a fantastic lineup of live music!

 

The Annual Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition

SOMArts and the San Francisco Foundation present The Annual Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition, a focused look at the future of the Bay Area visual arts. The show features 16 promising visual artists working across disciplines, and highlights young artists from MFA programs throughout the Bay Area whose work intersects with emerging trends.

Sunday Stories: The Songs of Leonard Cohen

Lizzie Locker has been an artist, entertainer, and “glamour girl” since birth. Since 2017, Lizzie has been writing professionally for small businesses, as well as creatively. She has published essays in VIE Magazine, and has written website and social media content for pole dance studios, afterschool programs, and reference sites. At the same time, Lizzie has also continued to develop her performance career at queer nightlife events across the Bay Area. She can be found both onstage and off, reading her stories aloud in bars, emceeing drag and burlesque shows, and producing arts events that defy genre and expectation.
