Well, as we all know by now, this year’s Pride is going to be one for the books. Many of you were up with the dawn waiting patiently at city hall or in the Castro, when the verdicts came over the wires from Washington as the hazy rays of light burned off the last of the storm clouds.

So, now is the time to crack open the pink bubbles and celebrate dear ones! The word is the main event is to be at the corner of Market round about 6:30 or so, but the neighbourhood is already well under way. Expect to see everyone from Cleve Jones to Ed Lee and lots and lots of fizzy lifting drinks.

Undoubtedly local taverns and discothèques are going to be doing their damndest to keep the good times rolling til last call and most likely will be offering all sorts of stiff stuff for your palate to enjoy gratis. Here at BAS we have it on good authority that that den of political queerness, El Río is already slinging lots of free tipples in honour of this auspicious day, and if you aren’t digging the public rally vibe, than can you think of any other bar to be to soak in the good vibes and unreal weather? No, thought not.

As, always we turn to thee, good reader to fill us in on where else the party is happening, the hooch is flowing, shit is free, and the jukebox is jumping, so if you got some inside info- make sure to comment here or hit us up on the Facebook.

It’s good day San Francisco and we love you so fucking much! xo

Stephen's early years were spent in a boxcar overlooking downtown Los Angeles. From there he moved around the state with his family before settling under the warm blanket of smog that covers suburban Southern California. Moving around led to his inability to stay in one place for very long, but San Francisco has been reeling him back in with its siren song since 1999.
By trade he pours booze, but likes to think he can write and does so occasionally for the SF Bay Guardian, Bold Italic and 7x7. He also likes to enjoy time spent in old eateries, bars and businesses that, by most standards, would have been condemned a long time ago.
