Canstruction at the World Financial Center through Nov. 21st

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The 19th annual Canstruction competition runs through November 21st at the World Financial Center Winter Garden. Each year, contestants construct displays using only cans of food. They are not allowed to damage the can or label so very little to no adhesive is used. The entrants this year include an Angry Bird and a QR code, both nods to our mobile phone obsession. Other noteworthy designs are a Lobster Claw (or a very high heel, depending on your interpretation) and a very large Walk/Don’t Walk sign.

Canstruction is FREE but donations of canned food are requested. On Monday, the sculptures will be dismantled and have second lives in the stomachs of hungry New Yorkers thanks to City Harvest.
