Dinner & a Circus Show: Keeping San Francisco Strange

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The Golden Gate Dolls are great friends to the site so I let them share a little bit about their fantastic new show. I’ve seen their other performances and they are doing a wonderful job of keeping SF strange. Get your tickets here before they sell out.

Every once in awhile a truly unique event comes popping up in SF. Story Time with the Golden Gate Dolls premieres this Wednesday, September 20th, at The Great Northern with two shows at 6:30 and 9:30. This dinner show is a cross between Barbarella, Masterpiece Theater and the Wizard of Oz, all wrapped up in a circus extravaganza. Private Chef Lee Cecchi offers up four courses of fresh, modern, and flavorful delicacies to feast upon while you ooh and ahh at the death defying feats of The Golden Gate Dolls.

It’s Sunday Morning and Co-Founder of the Golden Gate Dolls Tracy Piper is on the floor rhinestoning away. She’s putting the final touches on the culmination of months and months of rehearsals, injuries, and the otherwise mayhem of getting a production together.  ‘We really wanted to create something that filled the gap of Teatro Zinzanni and Supper Club, but had our own Golden Gate Doll mark. ‘Story Time’ is our chance as artists to create the show we always wanted and put it in a delicious dinner format.’ Setting the stage (and table) at The Great Northern, this show is a presentation of the new wave of circus and dinner theater. The Golden Gate Dolls are a collective of the Bay Area’s best and brightest variety performers who have returned home after performing all over the world.

Here’s an amazing video of the Golden Gate Dolls performing.

‘Story Time’ promises to fill the appetite you didn’t know you had for something bright and different in the San Francisco arts scene. Come for the amazing circus feats and stay for the culinary adventure. Learn more about the show, check out the menu, and get your tickets here.
