Jazz Age Lawn Party Take Two

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Per usual, I’m going to be out of town for the throwback Jazz Age Lawn theme party this Saturday. I miss it every year and it’s starting to feel like I’ll never get to sip cold glasses of St.Germaine and do the Charleston on Governor’s Island. If you missed the last shindig in July, now’s your chance to show of those moves you’ve been practicing or just set up a picnic under a tree and watch the antique cars roll by.

Governor’s Island already feels like a magical place trapped in time with its stately mansions and shaded lanes, now add a big band and some artfully styled mustaches, and you won’t need a Delorean to time travel. Festivities will take place from 11:00am-6:00pm. Tickets are only $7 if you buy them in advance, and I’d recommend leaving from Brooklyn Bridge Park which offers continuously running free ferry service to Governor’s Island.

Laura S - Spendthrift Scribe

Laura S, left the "sixth borough" three years ago to settle in Brooklyn. After working at some daily rags, she now does writing on the side but still eats more Ramen then necessary. When she's not moving residences every 6 months, eating her way through every neighborhood, and trying every microbrew known to man, she is unsuccessfully rediscovering home economics. With her binging days behind her, she's now exploring new projects and rediscovering the city that she loves (although is still prone to sliding on her knees during a Prince karaoke set).
