Social Studies Goes On Tour!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Have you heard this yet?

Always good to hear new music from a great San Francisco band, and a rare treat to see it accompanied by equally great animation (done by Murder Doll House).

Social Studies has been described as having an “arch take on modernist pop.” I prefer lead vocalist Natalia Rogovin’s take on the band and their evolution:

“Before, we were rebellious. We fucked with things just because we wanted to push limits and boundaries. [The new album] is a more adult record. We tried to explore sounds and draw out parts to write more moving and focused songs.”

Pushing limits and boundaries and writing moving and focused songs. That sounds like why I moved to San Francisco in the first place. Nice job, everybody.
