CANstruction brings together teams of architects, engineers and contractors to build gigantic sculptures out of several thousand cans of food. The sculptures stay on display as an art exhibit for one week, before being broken down so all cans can be donated to the San Francisco Food Bank. Last year’s event raised 50,000 pounds of food and $20,000.
This year’s exhibit will include 14 structures, all based on the theme of the “CANnes Film Festival.” That means this is your chance to see JAWS made of cans! The Death Star, made of cans! King Kong made of – you guessed it – cans!
The exhibit is completely free to view, though attendees are encouraged to bring a can of food to donate to the Food Bank.
The image shown is one of last year’s entries – the famed beard of one Brian Wilson.
