FREE Networking/$3 Drinks for Digitally Savvy @ Le Poisson Rouge

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I haven’t had a chance to go to Le Poisson Rouge, but I really want to.  I don’t really know why.  I think there is just an ambient buzz that you feel; like when you walk into a house and you just KNOW the VCR is on even though the TV is off.  It is just in the air; people are talking. But who the hell knows if what I have in mind reflects reality.   Maybe you can report back to me after tonight’s happy hour event.    The Nu Kids on the Block (NKOTB, minus the hairless super sex appeal) are running a “nu” (lo siento) kind of networking event that presents the prole with today’s up and coming influences.  It is for the “digitally savvy” and one of the hosts tonight is the creative director for Tumblr, which for a long time I mistook for a revolving composting drum that minimizes the backbreaking “turning” that dissuades people from having their own pile.  I’m glad to hear the blogging-thing is still around.  They will be talking about a start.io, which is a “super customizable site that holds all of your most used links, so you can get to them quickly from wherever you are.”  Oh yeah, wherever I am? What if I’m living in a swine-flu quarantine colony on the Jupiter’s 3r d moon? Or my shitty apartment in Harlem? Neither have internet. The event is free and there are $3 drink specials.  Starts at 8pm.

Le Poisson Rouge is located @ 158 Bleecker Street
