St. Jerome's in the Lower East Side

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

My favorite part is the subtext. It's like "and by the way, we have $2 beers"

I had a roommate when I first moved to New York who occasionally played records here. One night she came to my room and said, 'œHey I’m gonna go DJ at this place called St. Jerome’s tonight. Do you wanna come?' When I answered that I was too poor, she told me that not only would she pay for the car ride (she had to carry her records) but that St. Jerome’s served $2 Bud’s until midnight, every night of the week. I think you’ve read enough of this site to know what my answer was to that; I ended up drinking a lot of $2 Bud’s. Since then this small bar, with the comfy booths, low lighting, old school movies and vagina chandelier (yes you read that correctly), has become my go to spot in the LES. The crowd here is always friendlier than they look and the bartenders appreciate it when you talk a little shit to them. I don’t know who the hell Saint Jerome is, but I do know that the man sure knows how to run a drinking establishment (note to all you other saints: it’s time to step up your game!).
