The Big Terrific Comedy Show – FREE Every Wednesday

Being in Times Square always makes me want to murder everyone. It’s crowded, loud, covered in trash, the ads give you seizures – there is no end to its awfulness. But the worst are those people from the Ha! comedy club who stand on every corner soliciting you to attend their shitty routines. They get all up in your face, like, “Do you like to LAUGH??” Ugh. Maybe I have a rare genetic disorder that causes me to vomit every time I laugh. Did you ever think of that?? No. And then I would punch them in the face.

I would be lying, though, because I actually do like to laugh. Somehow they intuited this. Only at things that are funny, though, hence the greatness of The Big Terrific Comedy Show at the Cameo Gallery. It’s FREE every Wednesday at 8pm, and is hosted by three very funny people, Max Silvestri, Gabe Liedman and Jenny Slate.

During the show you can also get wasted, as they have a deal on unlimited Miller High Life for $12. Personally, I can’t stomach too much High Life, but there are some stirring testimonials on High Life’s Facebook page that indicate maybe I’m just a liberal beer elitist.

“I use to delivery the High Life. I still drink the High Life and One day I’ll delivery it again!!!!!”

And this comment, which starts out excited and then gets kinda sad:

“IT’S FRIDAY NITE!!!! I guess u all have a life. But me BOO.HOO. sorry folks. just wanted to talk, wifes mad at me.”

Aww.

Katy B. - Economic Inexpert

Katy B. grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the home of Gerald R. Ford, Andy Richter, and, at one point, the guy who wrote Mr. Holland’s Opus. She moved to NYC for her degree in library science, and is now in the Media Studies program at The New School. She hopes to one day be a film studies librarian. Ask her anything about Dewey Decimal – anything! – and she will roll her eyes because academic libraries use Library of Congress. Durrr.

I won’t deny that I love the crap out of High Life

More than one guy on fbook said he wanted to marry it. But what kind of ceremony would that be?? Who would give the High Life away? Maybe these are silly questions, because they would have a destination wedding or something.
