Free and Classy – "Comedie of Errors" in McCarren Park

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Usually catching some free Shakespeare in a park involves a complete sacrifice of dignity and regard for safety by possibly sleeping but definitely waiting many hours that should otherwise be spent doing – i don’t know, EVERYTHING – in Central Park. Fortunately, the good folks at New Lions Productions want to entertain you without first testing how foolish your willpower can be and is offering up free presentations of the Comedie of Errors this weekend in Williamsburg’s McCarren Park.

Known for being Shakespeare’s fastest (an hour) and most farcical plays, Comedie tells the tale of two twins separated at birth and the “wacky hi-jinks that ensue.” A good way to enjoy some sophisticated entertainment before you spend the night in bars playing Buck Hunter and drinking the PBRs you smuggled in your pants/purse.
