Doughnut Plant: the Ultimate Calorie Bomb

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

There is a place on the Lower East Side that shines despite the grime of Grand St. It is a glorious confectionery haven known as Doughnut Plant, and there, for $4, you can consume your entire caloric budget for one day easily. Behold the Doughnut Plant doughnut.

I know $4 seems like a lot for what Krispy Kreme will practically give away, but they are huge and seriously delicious. And the flavors they come in, good god! My favorite is the Creme Brulee doughnut – it tastes exactly like its namesake but better somehow. I also like the one named Blackout, not because it’s an activity familiar to me but because it is made with Valrhona chocolate. They also currently offer blueberry and lavender flower as featured flavors.

Wear your fat pants. You will need them.

Polina Yamshchikov - Flirt Poor

Polina is Siberian by way of Alabama, and therefore cannot pronounce "fire" or "iron" correctly but despite this can still woo men with her cooking skills and enormous Russian cheeks. She can usually be spotted on the streets of Brooklyn either yelling into a cell phone in one of five languages or swilling gin at an inappropriate hour of the morning.
