Free Ping Pong in Bryant Park

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

There are quite a number of ping pong aficionados, I’m sure , who would agree with the conviction that ping pong in its customary form constitutes a sport of the clearly indoor sort. The air, the lighting, the soft echoes of grunt strikes – its all altered in the outdoor sphere.

The folks over at Bryant Park, however, toss all of that logic  out of the window – and quite literally at that. Until October 17th, the park is offering interested visitors the chance to play The Table Sport of Kings on a pair of  state-of-the-art tables. The clincher? The table, the paddles, and even the balls are all FREE. And all you have to do is wrangle up one of the park’s oft-aloof attendants and ask to sign up. Which may be more difficult than playing ping pong, honestly.
