Fall Downtown Festival: Stop Saying You Can't Afford Arts Stuff
What do you get when you cross a cheapskate, over 30 arts events, and the dollar amount of the late fees you’ve racked up from renting “MacGruber”? The Fall Downtown Festival, of course! Eleven arts organizations that make up the Lower Manhattan Arts League are joining up to give you creative and affordable arts to choose from this fall. Basically, they’re tired of hearing you say “I’d love to get out and see theater/music/dance/another cultural thing more, but I just can’t afford it.” So stop because now you can. Seriously, stop it!
Burlesque! Children’s Theater! Discussions! Parties! All for around $10 (with just one event at $21.50), and some even at the low price of free. There’s something for everyone, and the arts party is going to run through December. They’re smart, those Lower Manhattan Arts League folks, because they know you’ll get hooked and have already started plotting how to rope you back into being all cultured and stuff with the Spring Downtown Festival next year.
For those of you who are “doers” instead of “watch other people doers,” be sure to check out the Open House on October 13th to learn about media arts center DCTV’s services for digital filmmakers, media artists and potential collaborations. Actually, even if you’re a “watch other people doer” you should still go to and take advantage of the open bar courtesy of Brooklyn Brewery.
