FREE Reading, Music, Wine and more Tonight at WORD Bookstore

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

If you are like the majority of Americans, one of your New Year’s resolutions is to read more. And again, if you are like the majority of Americans, you will not actually do this. So why don’t you call a spade a spade and try being read to?! It worked when you were a wee one, and this time (hopefully unlike those times) there will be free wine. WORD, Greenpoint’s beloved independent bookshop, will pamper to your lazy needs with tonight’s free event: Mystery and Music: Toby Ball, Cornelia Read and Salon97.

Mystery authors Ball (The Vaults) and Read (Invisible Boy) will read selections from their novels accompanied by classical music selections picked specifically to compliment the stories by classical community leader Cariwyl Hebert from Salon97. They will serve free cupcakes and wine to boot, so come and feel less guilty about keeping that People Magazine hidden in your copy of Atlas Shrugged for at least a little bit longer.

Everything's Better with Beer: Beer Goggles at 92Y Tribeca

Jill S.

Jill S.

Jill is an Ohio native and Boston University graduate who refuses to stop saying "pop" and wearing her Red Sox gear despite being heckled for doing so since moving to Brooklyn. She's been honing her thrifty ways since doing that silly thing people talk about when they ignore reason to follow their hearts and chose a career in the fulfilling but faltering music industry. She earns her beer money as a publicist and writer, and spends her spare time cooking, biking, and trying to decide if she's ready to get a cat.
